The Entrepreneur’s Journey
I’m taking 15 minutes to write this entry this morning because it’s a moment I don’t want to forget. Yesterday, I received an order for $76 worth of our chili spice blend. 2 days before that I received and order for $30 worth. I’ve also been selling at the Farmer’s Market on the weekends. My sales are just now after 4 years becoming steady and for that I’m grateful. I’m learning so much by making so many small mistakes and adjustments in the process.
Yesterday, when I received this order I was excited and shocked. This order can from a word of mouth referral from my dear friend Elayne. Elayne had purchased a bunch of our chili spice blends and shared them with friends and family. ❤️ It amazes and humbles me to know that people see and support all that I’m trying to accomplish. Thank you Elayne and everyone that has purchased and shared our Homestead chili spice blends.
All that being said, I’ve been selling our packets and we ran out of labels. I had placed my order for more labels over the weekend, but when I called our local print shop they were so backed up that they didn’t know when they could get to our order. I had 3 days to get my order out on Shopify so my options weren’t great. I called a print shop 2.5 hours away and checked online to see if the Staples or Office Depot 2.5 hours away could print the labels for us. No luck. So what did I do? I contacted the local grocery store in town and asked to buy back our Homestead chili spice blend at cost.
Luckily, they said yes and I was able to package that order last night. I also ordered 100 sheets of the labels that I use on Avery.com and decided that I will be purchasing a new printer with any income that I make from our chili / farmers market sales this week. Last week, I was able to purchase this laser label printer from our farmer’s market sales :
Between this little printer and PirateShip… I’m saving a lot of time and money.
Next step is independence with label and invoice printing. I’m going to try and fix our printer again but I’ll likely just replace the one that we have.
Anyway, I’ve got to start on breakfast for the family. Spelt banana muffins.
Have a #blessed day my friends 🌶️🌸🌶️
P.S.
If you feel led to contribute to our printer fund please do! This is the printer I’ll likely get. We’re reinvesting every dollar back into our business so this would be a help! Our Cashapp is $thewinstonhomestead and Venmo is @StephanieKWinston . Thank you so much!
